As he continues to cultivate fresh material for his second solo EP, we thought we’d ask Erol Alkan about his first love: records. Not just any old stack of 12-inches, either; we’re talking the music that’s marked key points throughout the DJ/producer’s career, from his long-running—and hugely influential—Trash party in London to the Phantasy Sound imprint that’s taken its place in many ways. – Self Titled

The Music Circle is back with another Rumble in the Jumble in association with Oxfam on April 26, after a hugely successful celebrity sale in 2013, which raised over £16,000 and featured designer donations from the likes of Erol Alkan, Damon Albarn, Alison Mosshart, Fearne Cotton, Daisy Lowe and Annie Mac.
The event is raising money and awareness for women in the DRC, the victims of “the world’s most forgotten conflict”, who face constant threats of forced displacement, sexual violence, abduction and extortion. This harrowing clip explains what is going on and underlines why we are supporting the women who live there.
All you need to do is bring a bag of jumble, pay £3 entry on the door, and get ready to rumble in the jumble!
